I have years of experience creating social and digital content around the beautiful game. It began in 2010 just before the World Cup when I founded Church of Soccer with a friend.
"Create. Curate. Engage." was our mantra. We wrote original "sermons," curated content, proclaimed the finest work "canon" and the worst "blasphemy," sold t-shirts, and forged a smart, edgy voice on social media. The latter would be our saving grace (pun intended). Twitter put and kept us on the map. It empowered us to spread the gospel and attracted a large, diverse congregation of fans, bloggers and writers, players, clubs, and others "in the business." We went website-less in 2012, but I kept the doors at @ChurchOfSoccer open.
In 2014, I was recruited to join Fusion's World Cup coverage. Our stellar team live-blogged and tweeted all 64 matches, producing a smart, sassy viewing companion and driving Fusion's highest social interaction rates of all its digital properties. Additionally, I wrote, produced, and starred in video segments for a television show.
Working with that diverse, energetic group of writers and creatives was a real joy. It opened doors to freelance for Good Morning America and consult for Danish sports apparel brand, hummel.
