It's All Relative

As tempting as it is to compare ourselves and our successes to others, we must remember that it's all relative. Just because two people are the same doesn't mean they should hold themselves, or each other, to the same timeline or standard. Differences in choices, means, timing, and luck (among others) puts us all on our own track.

A prime example is the "hot model"—the guy who got arrested, but whose mug-shot earned him instant fame on the Internet and, subsequently, a modeling contract while serving out his sentence. His response? “I never thought that everyone in the world would recognize me for my looks, so I feel extremely blessed and very thankful.”

So, whether it's a modeling contract, a certificate, a degree, a skill, or a job offer, remember that the world is a weird place. Some bloom earlier than others. Some good people get really unlucky. Some bad people get really lucky. And most of it can't be explained. It's not worth fretting over why or how someone else got something. Do your own thing.
