Make Yourself Indispensable

Specialize or else. The so-called "jacks and jills-of-all-trades" spread themselves too thin. They're just dabblers who've never dug deep enough to excel." Today's innovators and leaders need people who are the best in their field, not just good in several.

Be well-rounded or else. The specialization mafia doesn't get the importance of being nimble and adaptable in today's fast-growing organizations. Engineers, marketers, designers, accountants, lawyers, and others all have to work together. Knowing more and being able to do more is never a weakness.

There is no single path to success. We can specialize or generalize. But whatever we choose, we have to make ourselves indispensable.
